Our history
The beginnings
Christer Belser has been making his mark on Nürtingen’s city center with his restaurant since 2015. With the belsers Hotel, his heartfelt project is now coming true: a place that welcomes local guests as well as travelers from all over the world.
History of the Melchior area
In 1816, one of the first industrial companies in Württemberg was established on what is now the Melchior site: the Otto cotton spinning and dyeing mill. The direct location on the Neckar offered ideal conditions for utilizing water power. Under the Melchior family, the company continued to develop successfully for decades. In 1976, the family moved their business to Unterboihingen, whereupon the partial demolition of the factory began in 1981. However, thanks to the commitment of K. H. Türk, co-founder of the Freie Kunstakademie Nürtingen (FKN), part of the historic plant was preserved. With his own efforts and public support, the former spinning mill was transformed into a lively place for art and creativity.
The house today
Located directly on the Neckar, in one of the most beautiful places in Nürtingen, the hotel combines high quality, comfort and culinary enjoyment. Natural materials, a healthy indoor climate and stylishly furnished rooms ensure relaxation and well-being, while the Restaurant Melchior and the Skybar offer a meeting place for all guests – for private moments, business events or simply enjoyment in a family atmosphere.
